Sometimes the next step in life starts with the right skills and support. Future Foundations helps you explore where you are now, discover opportunities to grow, and prepare for work, education, or more hours.

What is Future Foundations?

Funded by the UK Government Essential Skills Fund, this project helps you identify your skill needs and create a personalised plan for progression into employment, education, or increased working hours.

Who can take part?

Adults looking to build skills for work or training

Those who want to increase their hours or improve employability

Anyone wanting to boost basic English, maths, or digital skills

What you get

A chance to test your basic skills (English, maths, digital) in a supported one-to-one setting

Optional opportunities to improve your skills as part of your journey

Access to a small budget for vocational courses (e.g. Food Hygiene, Manual Handling, Working at Heights, COSHH)

One-to-one mentoring to enhance employability skills and strengthen your CV

Financial guidance including “better off in work” calculations and budgeting support

Why it matters

Employers are increasingly using skills as an entry level requirement.  Improving your skills and qualifications also improves your confidence and self-esteem.
